Initially, the GT540 Swift was shipped running on Android 1.6 Donut, eventually LGE released the official Andoid 2.1 Éclair for the device. And, sadly, it was the last update from LGE due to hardware restrictions. It was then that the GT540 got a slot on XDA, and great developers all over the world work to falsify the “hardware restriction” statement of LGE as they develop more advance android version for the device. Developers Quarx and Ankuch, successfully ported CyanogenMod 6 to GT540 see post. Mur4ik, successfully ported CyanogenMod 7 based on Gingerbread see post. After a few months, Mike Gapinski, was able to compile the first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for GT540. In the latter, Miroslav_mm compiled a CynogenMod 7-based and an AOSP-based ROMs, both running on Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread. He eventually launched Project Ice Cream Swift which aims to give the GT540 users a more stable ICS. The development didn’t stop here. PolishVodka successfully built a stable Android 4.2 Jellybean ROM based on CynogenMod 10 for GT540.
The development for the GT540 was unstoppable at some point, until great developers shifted to other devices. Further android development needs a stronger hardware system; this is something the GT540 does not have.
And so, we came to an end.
But GT540 users from XDA don’t want to get an end. CALLING ALL OLD MEMBERS OF THE FORUM! Visit your good old forum and leave a conversation with other members who never stopped supporting the GT540 development. this is a great chance to reunite all GT540 users, both the former and current!
I just thought, hey I loved this community back when I was still using this device and I wanna chat with the oldies again someway. So I made an off topic thread, we can chat here about anything except questions about GT540 development (that's what the Q&A section is for) so let's do this guys, and I hope the oldies will find this thread. @-Grift- @miroslav_mm @andreas__
